Travis Reid had the game winning RBI, driving in Zucchero from third on a ground out in the 4th.
Game Summary
The Pirates fought back late, taking the lead with two in the bottom of the fourth with Travis Reid delivering the go ahead run on an RBI ground out. Pirates pitcher Brandon Zucchero retired the side in the 5th to secure the win after 3.2 innings of stellar work in the darkness-shortened five inning affair.
The Royals had taken their first lead of the night in the top half of the 4th on a Nick Borges single to center, scoring Nick Balicki. It was just the second hit of the night for Royals.
Both teams had their chances to put up big numbers, with the Pirates leaving the bases loaded in the first and third innings before loading them up again in the 4th to push across two runs. The Royals loaded the bases in the second with just one out when Zucchero, fresh into the game, induced an inning-ending 6-4-3 double play.
